World War One Topic Work
Our Key Stage 2 children have been learning about World War One this term.
This has involved museum visits, drama and music workshops in school and a visit to the Leyland War Memorial.
Year 6 spent the day at Fulwood Barracks and The Museum of Lancashire in September.
They were followed by Year 5…
…and then Year 4 several weeks later!.
In October the children took part in drama and music workshops.
Year 4 learning about the role of women in World War 1.
Year 5 working with Altru Theatre and learning about life in the trenches.
Years 5 and 6 took part in a music workshop with The Lazy Mondays and then performed for the school.
Year 5 made 3D models of trenches.
On November 10th, Years 5 and 6 walked down to the Leyland War Memorial. In a short, but moving, Act of Remembrance the children read poems and prayers, sang wartime songs, played the Last Post and laid poppy wreaths.
